Transelec’s Environmental Management System is designed under ISO 14,001 certification standards, which allows the practices that are carried out in all processes included in a project to comply with the highest standards aimed at safeguarding all environmental aspects.
The company also requires its contractors to commit to complying with environmental regulations, internal procedures and certifications such as ISO 14,001, which include the protection of flora, fauna, soil, water, air, cultural wealth and landscape, as well as concern for waste management, fire prevention, traffic impact and noise. They are also required to comply with all sectoral legislation governing their activities.
In the course of 2008 Transelec will be implementing an Integral Quality, Environmental, Health and Safety Management System.
In November 2007, the first Environmental Management System Audit was conducted, and three internal audits are scheduled to take place in 2008.
