Respect for the environment and protection of the same are part of the values upheld by Transelec, being a permanent key component in the management of its business. This is translated into the application of a preventive principle that seeks to diminish its impact on the environment and to continuously improve the environmental performance of both the construction of transmission lines and substations and the maintenance of the same.

With the aim to perform environmental management of excellence, Transelec makes every effort to identify and control the environmental impacts associated to its operations and – should it become necessary – implements the appropriate mitigation and compensation actions.

Furthermore, Transelec is permanently training its collaborators, including its contractors. The company conducts the Environment and Risk Prevention Week on a yearly basis, its main objective being to spread and promote a “care for the environment” aimed preventive culture.

All projects executed by Transelec include the environmental variable from its design stage. The projects are submitted to the Environmental Impact Evaluation System in order to obtain the environmental qualification resolution and the corresponding sectorial environmental permits.

Additionally, as of 2001, Transelec has an Environmental Policy and, as of 2004, the implementation of a Environmental Management System.
