At Transelec, labour safety is integrated into all activities and decisions related to work processes. This is accomplished by means of the preparation and dissemination of clear and precise rules aimed at achieving this objective, as well as the commitment of all personnel to self care and respect for the rules.
All construction, maintenance and operations work in the company’s facilities are required to adhere to the preventive actions and measures, which are regulated through the application of procedures that include identifying and evaluating the risks associated with each activity to be performed, planning that activity and controlling its execution. This is complemented by providing relevant training and the required protection devices.
During 2007, risk prevention at Transelec was conducted in accordance with annual objectives set within the framework of the provisions of the regulations in force since 18 January 2007 with the publication of Supreme Decree No. 76, which establishes rules for the application of Law No. 20,123 that governs subcontracted work and the activity of temporary service companies.
The accident indicators correspond to the Frequency index and Severity index related to risk prevention actions. These show a continual decline in the occurrence of accidents over the past years. The same situation is observed in terms of the Severity index, which measures the severity of the accidents occurring during a given year.
