The core objective of the development of Transelec’s transmission system is to achieve the highest possible availability at its installations. This makes it possible to ensure efficient conditions of safety and quality of supply in the electric system, allowing it to meet the standards required for electricity transmission by the current legislation.
The Development area is staffed by highly qualified technicians and professionals whose aim is to fulfill the essential purpose of developing Transelec’s transmission system in order to ensure an appropriate response to the requirements of the system. Given the company’s role as a public service and the essential part that transmission plays in the electricity supply chain, it is necessary for Transelec personnel to be working continually, day and night, carrying out operations. Maintenance also has to be performed at night or on weekends, which is when electricity demand decreases and it is therefore feasible to shut down the transmission systems to carry out this work.
To achieve its proposed objectives, Transelec’s Development area has organized work units, called Area Managements, located in the main offices and six branch offices, whose main function is to operate and maintain the company’s transmission infrastructure in good working order throughout the country.
