Transelec is a company whose function has been defined by law as a public service, given the fundamental nature of the link that transmission represents in the chain of electricity supply from its origin at the generating company to its use in the country’s homes or industries.
Transelec’s Operations area is responsible for ensuring that the transmission system complies adequately with its assigned role. It is therefore responsible, first of all, for detecting the requirements of the systems in the medium and long term and seeking technically and financially viable solutions to meet those requirements. This area is also responsible for ensuring that the installations in service are available permanently throughout the year, which makes their adequate operation and maintenance fundamental.
Another part of the Operations area is to ensure the safety of all workers taking part in company operations – whether they work for the company or for third parties – as well as to ensure that the company’s activities are environmentally friendly.
